Have a scoop or two at Maple View Farm
Hot take: Ice cream is an all-year, all-weather dessert. No matter how cold it gets outside, it’s always a good time for some ice cream. The people over at Maple View Farm in Hillsborough raise cows and sell milk, but personally, I know them for their fresh-churned ice cream and great views. Now that it’s Fall and Winter is right around the corner, they’ve got seasonal flavors like sweet potato, pumpkin spice, and rum raisin. If enjoying an ice cream cone and watching cows graze in a great big pasture sounds like your idea of a fun autumn activity, I would definitely hit up Maple View Farm.
Enjoy nature and go on a walk or hike
When you’re all holed up in a library grinding out projects and studying for exams, sometimes the best thing to do is to go outside and get some fresh air. Lucky for you, there’s a ton of places on and near campus to go for a nice walk! If you’re hoping for more of a hike than a walk, I recommend registering for a trip with Campus Rec’s Carolina Adventures. Their outdoor trips include transportation, food, and equipment, and the best part is you can register online! If you want to stay closer to campus, the arboretum’s a great place to walk around and appreciate some flowers. If you’re willing to walk or drive a little farther, Battle Park is another great place for a relaxing stroll.
Cozy up with a book at Epilogue Books Chocolate Brews
Epilogue is an independent bookstore and Chocolatería that just opened up on Franklin Street right next to Sup Dogs. Owned by two Chapel Hill locals and inspired by their passion for books, cuisine, and culture, Epilogue is a perfect place for a cozy autumn afternoon. Whether you’re into books, chocolate, coffee, churros, or just comfy hang-out spots, this is a great place to go for some chill Fall/Winter vibes.
